Traditional Meaning

Intuition, healing, and emotional flow. Listen to dreams; allow tides to move grief; choose flexibility over brittle certainty.

Saille is the enchantress of the grove, the whisper of intuition and transformation. It is the willow’s song, bending gracefully toward the water’s reflection. In the Ogham, it embodies inspiration, dreamwork, and the hidden language of the soul.

The willow was sacred to poets and seers. Its branches were used to weave baskets and wands, linking it to both craft and magic. In early Irish tradition, the willow was said to grow near the wells of wisdom, its roots drinking from the same source that nourished poetic inspiration. Bards would sit beneath its shade to receive dreams and prophecy.

Saille asks us to listen to the quiet voices that ripple beneath the surface. It teaches that intuition is not mystery for its own sake, but a bridge between worlds. Through Saille, we remember that the unseen is not unreal… it is simply waiting for us to hear.
