Traditional Meaning

Wisdom, study, and inspired solutions. Gather sources, invite Awen, and articulate the elegant answer.

Coll is wisdom ripened through time. It speaks of knowledge earned, the balance of intellect and intuition. This feda is the hazel, tree of poets and seers, whose nuts fall into the sacred Well of Segais to feed the Salmon of Wisdom.

Hazel groves were revered in early Irish tradition. Poets were said to eat hazelnuts or meditate beneath the tree to awaken divine insight. The word coll became linked with inspiration, storytelling, and learned truth. To the Celts, wisdom was not abstract knowledge but a living current, drawn from nature and shared through art and word.

Coll invites us to drink deeply from that well. It reminds us that true understanding comes from openness and reflection. When Coll appears, it is a call to learn, to listen, and to express what has matured within.
